As the number of consumers in the world continues to grows we hear more and more about the need to preserve natural resources through recycling and reuse . This video provides a short introduction to the concept of "Cradle to cradle" (or C2C), which encourages us to take a new look at the way we design and manufacture products. 1 There will soon be 8 billion people on the planet and we all want to consume products to make our lives more pleasurable. There will soon be a shortage (= scarcity) of natural resources because we haven't thought enough about how to reuse them. We make products, use them then throw them away.
2 Reduce waste by using fewer materials and less energy. But this only postpones the time when we have no more resources to use.
3 Rethink the way we make things and use materials effectively: use all materials in continuous cycles (products must be easy to disassemble so materials can be reused), use renewable energy only (especially solar) and celebrate diversity (imitate nature by adapting production to local situations, using only local materials)
4 They can use this strategy to show how they are different and profit finacially from cost savings and added value
